Days after a recent incident in the country, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar likened “anti-national narratives” to a Covid virus that must be dealt with. He made these remarks at a seminar during the 8th International Gita Mahotsav at Kurukshetra University in Haryana on Sunday. The seminar, titled “Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam: Shrimad Bhagwat Gita Global Unity,” was organized by Kurukshetra University and Kurukshetra Development Board.

Dhankhar emphasized the significance of the Gita’s philosophy as the foundation of Indian civilization and culture, and as the guiding principle for India’s governance in the present day, with a focus on objectivity, transparency, equity, and commitment to universal brotherhood. He expressed that the Gita’s philosophy is as relevant today as ever before.

Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s statements, Dhankhar highlighted the PM’s emphasis on avoiding war and promoting dialogue and diplomacy based on guidance from the Gita, particularly in light of recent global conflicts. He drew parallels to the Mahabharat era, where Lord Krishna made efforts to prevent war and imparted wisdom to Arjuna, emphasizing the importance of duty.

Dhankhar also celebrated India’s technological advancements, noting the adoption of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) by other countries and India’s achievements in space technology. However, he acknowledged that the country is facing challenges, particularly in addressing anti-national sentiments, which he likened to a Covid virus that needs to be neutralized.
